OUR EVOLUTION

Why The Name Change

To Reach More People & Reduce Barriers

  • The word "softcock" was a roadblock for some people who support the mission but couldn’t publicly engage (due to stigma, professional concerns, or personal discomfort).

  • Some potential guests and collaborators declined simply because of the name, even though they aligned with the message.

  • Community members expressed wanting a more discreet way to engage without "cock" showing up in browsers or prompting new algorithms.

To Expand the Conversation on Men’s Sexual Health

  • While erectile function is a key focus, sexual health is much bigger than whether an erection happens.

  • The new name allows for broader conversations about pleasure, intimacy, body confidence, circumcision, size concerns, aging, and overall well-being.

  • It aligns with our message that "it doesn’t have to be hard" for people to access sex education and health care that is compassionate, comprehensive, and shameless.

To Remove Stigma & Encourage Open Dialogue

  • Some people felt that even saying the name "Soft Cock Week" was embarrassing or taboo, which created an unintended barrier to discussion.

  • By shifting to a name that feels more inviting, we’re making it easier for men to talk openly about their experiences without fear of judgment.

To Grow as an Organization

  • The rebrand helps solidify our mission to expand organizationally allowing for more outreach, education, and impact.

  • A name that resonates with a wider audience makes it easier to gain support, secure collaborations, and expand resources.

  • We're shifting from an annual event to monthly community gatherings, so "week" was  limiting.

Because the New Name Captures the Mission Perfectly

  • “It Doesn’t Have to Be Hard” playfully and meaningfully reinforces our core message—both in a literal sense (erectile health) and in a broader emotional/educational sense.

  • It welcomes everyone with erectile tissue (that's everyone)to seek support, knowing that getting help, learning, and having fulfilling intimacy doesn’t have to be difficult.
